How Well Does the Volkswagen ID7 Drive?

Driving the Volkswagen ID7 is an experience, blending smoothness with responsive performance. Despite how long the car is, driving it around the city isn’t as challenging as it would seem. With plenty of visibility and very minimal blind spots, it becomes less of a problem to manoeuvre. The wealth of electronic equipment in the car makes it a breeze in tough situations. The VW ID7 comes fitted with a 360-degree camera as standard, making it a lot easier to fit the car into tighter spaces or between width restrictions.

The ID7 comes with a 77kWh battery and is reported to do 386 miles on a single charge, real world driving will get you a very comfortable 300 miles providing you aren’t driving like a race car driver. The long range makes it an excellent choice for long-distance travel. Motorway commuters will find that it is a quiet and relaxing drive, thanks to the sleek lines of the saloon shape, you won’t get much wind and road noise.

Comparing the range to the competitors, it’s a strong choice. The Kia EV6 reaches 328 miles at best. With the VW ID7 almost beating the king of range, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range which sits at 390 miles depending on how you drive.

How Practical is the Volkswagen ID7?

Whilst the VW ID7 is designed to look like a saloon, the boot opens like a hatchback would, this makes it heaps easier to get larger items in and out without too much fuss.

The boot floor has two levels of adjustments, at its highest point you get a flat surface with the seats folded down. Even at the lowest position, it leaves space for you to stow away charging cables. It’s important to note that the VW ID7 does not feature storage at the front of the car.

The front seats feature a wide range of adjustability, from lumbar support to extendable seat bases. The seats are heated and come standard with a massaging function. If you want to expand the features further, their interior pack adds seat ventilation and more massaging choices. The rear seats are spacious and give you a lot of room to stretch out, on the other hand, the head room is less than ideal and could leave taller passengers slouching.
