AMT Auto has been awarded “Go Ultra Low Company” status in recognition of how plug-in cars and vans form a sizeable percentage of our business rental fleet.
Go Ultra Low is a joint government and industry campaign. Its objective is to increase the consideration in the UK of electric vehicles by helping companies with fleets and motorists, understand the benefits, cost savings and capabilities of those vehicles available on the market today. The accolade also recognises our commitment to boosting their uptake over the next five years as part of our long-term transport strategy.
The campaign is funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and eight vehicle manufacturers. They all work in association with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The vehicle manufacturers supporting the campaign are, Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen. Many of these manufacturers are represented on our rental fleet.
In the future we aim to give as many of our employees as possible the chance to drive or own an electric vehicle, to boost our eco-credentials further, and make a real difference to the environment by reducing CO2 emissions and improving air quality in our region. Not only can EVs promote cleaner motoring, there’s also multiple short and long-term financial benefits for us, our employees and our customers to enjoy.
Public and private sector organisations that already use electric vehicles, or offer them to employees as company cars, are eligible for Go Ultra Low Company status, providing there’s a commitment for electric vehicles to make up 5% of their vehicle fleet by 2020.
